Police looking for witnesses after Gatineau man severely beaten in fight

A man in his sixties is in hospital after being beaten up and Gatineau police are trying to find out more about the fight that put him there. At about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, officers found the injured man lying on the ground, unconscious, in the SmartCentre parking complex on Plateau Boulevard in the Hull sector of Gatineau. There had been a fight between two men, and the other man had run away, officers were told. The victim was transferred to the Ottawa Hospital and was still there for observation on Wednesday. Police want to find the suspect but they also believe there was "an important witness" who left the scene before they arrived. They are asking anyone with information to call (819) 243-INFO (4636), option 5.
